Sell Your Chametz Online

Since it is prohibited to possess chametz on Passover, any chametz left un-disposed must be sold to a non-Jew.

All such chametz, as well as all chametz utensils that were not thoroughly cleaned, should be stored away. The storage area should be locked or taped shut for the duration of the holiday.

Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends.

The following form can be copied, modified, filled out, printed and submitted to Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus by Thursday, March 25th NO LATER THAN 2:00PM. We cannot take responsibility for any forms that are not received by this date.

Jewish law requires that your chametz be sold by the specified deadline for the location in which the owner will be on the day before Passover.

IT IS CUSTOMARY TO INCLUDE A DONATION TO ASSIST THE POOR FOR PESACH WHEN SELLING THE CHOMETZ.

Delegation of Power to Sell Chometz

I the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus to act in my place and stead, and on my behalf to sell all chametz possessed by me, knowingly or unknowingly as defined by the Torah and Rabbinic Law (e.g. chametz, possible chametz, and all kind of chametz mixtures).

Also chametz that tends to harden and adhere to inside surfaces of pans, pots, or cooking utensils, the utensils themselves, as well as pet food that contain chametz and mixtures thereof.

Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus is also empowered to lease all places wherein the chametz owned by me may be found, particularly at the address/es listed below, and elsewhere.

Rabbi Raphael Tennnenhaus has full right to appoint any agent or substitute in his stead and said substitute shall have full right to sell and lease as provided herein.

Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus also has the full power and right to act as he deems fit and proper in accordance with all the details of the Bill of Sale used in the transaction to sell all my chametz, chametz mixtures, etc., as provided herein. This power is in conformity with all Torah, Rabbinic and Civil laws.

I would like to make a donation, to help needy families for food for Pesach, as is customary at this time of year. THIS YEAR WE ARE IN A GLOBAL AND COMMUNITY CRISIS, THE LIKES WE HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE, AND WE ARE DOUBLING OUR EFFORTS TO FEED AND SUSTAIN THE SENIORS AND THE POOR!

In the Haggadah, at the beginning, we read "Whoever is Hungry, Come and Eat." At Chabad of South Broward Headquarters, many, many requests come to us, from families and individuals, to help provide them with their Pesach needs.
We give out money, food, food vouchers . Last year, in the early goings of the Pandemic, we gave out over $40,000 of Pesach assistance. THIS YEAR, DUE TO OVER A YEAR OF COVID-19, which includes seniors stranded alone without caretakers and their children, and men and women who have suddenly lost their jobs, we are doubling our efforts, and plan to distribute $85,000 worth of food and money to the neediest and loneliest. This includes housing for people being evicted from their homes, therapy sessions, medicine, and all other emergency needs that Covid has brought on.  For one family, our help means new shoes for children whose shoes were torn, to another family, it means Pesach food, 3 meals a day, all eight days of Pesach. For a lonely senior citizen in a non-kosher retirement home, it means kosher food for all of Pesach and beyond. To families being evicted from their homes, it means shelter and safety and Pesach not on the street!!!

Please help us with our Pesach Campaign. Every gift is greatly appreciated, and goes a long way.

Give this year in a generous measure, and Hashem will surely repay you and yours with all the blessings, in everything material and spiritual.

This year, when you say at the Seder "Whoever is Hungry, Come and Eat," you won't only be saying it. You will actually be doing it!!!

Thank you. Chag Kosher V'Sameach. May the Virus end, all the sick be healed, and may we merit the complete Redemption with MOSHIACH, NOW!
