Sunday, March 27th - 30th Annual Dinner - Chabad of South Broward.

Ethan Bortnick, Andre Dawson, Suzanne Friedman and Rebbitzen Endi Tennenhaus to be honored Sunday, March 27, at Chabad's 30th Annual Dinner!

 

10 year old child prodigy, Ethan Bortnick, will receive the "Child of the Decade Award" at the 30th Annual Dinner, of Chabad of South Broward, which  will take place Sunday, March 27, at Chabad of South Broward Headquarters, 1295 E Hallandale Bch Blvd. Ethan has been featured on Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey, the Disney channel, all the major networks, a PBS Special, and is currently on a huge North American Tour, including two  upcoming shows Saturday night March 5th and Sunday March 6th, at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center. Ethan is a world renowned pianist, composer,and songwriter, who's talents include a natural charm and a commanding stage presence. Ethan dedicates a lot of time and energy to raise funds for charity, which is an inspiration to children all over the world.




The Dinner will celebrate the opening of The South Broward Friendship Circle, a program with 79 branches worldwide, that caters to children with special needs, who are teamed up with local teenagers. These teenagers serve as volunteers and friends of these children with special needs. Cocktails begin at 5 PM, Dinner at 6 PM.

Recently inducted Baseball Hall of Famer Andre Dawson, a hero on and off the field, will receive the" Humanitarian of the Year" Award. Mr Dawson was the only  player to be elected to to the Hall of Fame in 2010. Dawson's skills in America's favorite pastime is legendary, including his being one of only three players, along with the one and only Willie Mays and Barry Bonds, belonging to the 400/300 Club, by hitting over 400 Home runs and  stealing over 300 bases. Dawson also holds the distinction of being the only player in the history of baseball, to be intentionally walked five times in one day. Mr Dawson's accomplishments off the field is what makes him a true hero in today's era of "troubled sports stars". He has recently returned with a number of Marlins players and personnel, from a visit to uplift the spirits of US troops stationed in Germany and Asia.

Also being honored is Mrs Suzanne Friedman, as "Parent of the Year", who is very active with the Hallandale Hebrew Club and Bat Mitzvah Club, and Rebbitzen Endi Tennenhaus, who will receive the "Eishes Chayil - Woman of Valor" Award. Mrs Tennenhaus has created the very successful Chai Tots Preschool, and is working with Chabad's leadership, communal lay leaders, and parents of the Preschool, to expand the school. The school has seventy boys and girls, with over 100 children waiting to get in who  are currently on the Preschools' waiting list! Mrs Tennenhaus also serves as the co-director of Chabad of Northeast Hollywood and Dania, the Rebbitzen of the Shul of the Lakes, and the co-director of Camp Gan Israel of South Broward.




The Annual Chabad Dinner is short on speeches, ends at 9 PM, and is filled with entertainment. Couvert per person is $180. There will also be an Ad Journal, in which you can honor one of the honorees, Chabad's  Rabbis and Rebbitzens, lay leaders in the community, and the Dinner Chairmen. Chabad's 30th Annual Dinner is being co- chaired by Broward County Jewish Federation Vice President, Bernie Friedman,  two time past Broward Jewish Federation President Dr Barry Alter, and Steve Kerzer. Honorary Dinner Chairmen are Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti and the Greater Ft Lauderdale President and Director of Tourism Nicki Grossman.

Chabad of South Broward, leaders in Jewish education, social services and outreach in South Florida for over 30 years, oversees twelve Chabad Centers in Broward County. They also run over forty agencies, including Florida's only Jewish  Women's Teacher's College, and Project PRIDE, a County-wide, non-sectarian, drug prevention and education program, at their Hallandale Beach Headquarters.
