The Honorable Keith and Jessica Wasserstrom will receive the Community Leadership Award at Chabad of South Broward’s 25th Annual Dinner, to be held Sunday, March 19th, at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida.
Keith is a Commissioner of the City of Hollywood and the Wasserstrom’s are very active in Chabad and in many community organizations.
Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus, Executive Vice President of Chabad of South Broward, is quick to point out that “Chabad has emerged as the largest Jewish organization in Broward County, with a combined yearly budget of over eighteen million dollars.”
In South Broward alone, Chabad operates 11 centers and over 25 agencies. Throughout the county, including Central and North Broward, there are some 25 centers and fifty agencies, ranging from Hebrew Schools, day schools, day camps, synagogues, drug prevention and education centers, women’s circles, day cares, adult learning institutes, Mikvahs, a Rabbinical School, and Florida’s only Jewish Teacher’s College for Women, which is located at Chabad of South Broward Headquarters in Hallandale Beach.
Also being honored at this milestone 25th Anniversary Dinner are Mr. Max and Mrs. Eve Rubenstein, who will receive the Community Pillar Award; Mrs. Annette Daiagi, who will be bestowed with the Aishes Chayil/Woman of Valor Award, and Mr. Marcel and Mrs. Claudia Calef, and Mr. Eddy and Mrs. Susan Tawil, joint recipients of the Young Leadership Award.
Although known by many as leaders in Jewish outreach, Chabad has developed many local communities in Broward County at a grassroots level, appealing to men, women and children with both limited and advanced knowledge in Judaism.
Chabad of South Broward invites one and all to this gala event at the Diplomat. Admission is $250. The Dinner will celebrate Chabad’s next 25 years in Broward County, as leaders in Jewish education, social services and outreach. Dinner Co-Chairs are Dr. Barry Alter, a past president of the Jewish Federation/United Jewish Communities and Mr. Bernie Friedman, a partner in the prestigious law firm Becker & Poliakoff.
